One laptop that I’m looking forward to its release is Sony’s Ultra mobile Vaio TX. This is the predecessor to the TZ Vaio line. The new TX will be stacked with pre Intel Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo ultra low-processor running at 1.1 GHz. 1 GB of Ram upgradeable to 2 Gb. The standard drive is a 100Gb Disk Drive or you can opt for a 32 GB Solid State Disk Drive. It will have built in 802.11N, Bluetooth and Sprint EV-DO Rev A for the wireless aspects. A motion eye camera with microphone which is embedded into the LCD bezel, which surrounds an 11.1 inch XBRITE-HiColor LCD screen. All packed into a slim 2.7lbs sexy looking case.
I am a fan of Sony’s ultra mobile laptops as I bought my first one back in 2003 when Sony released the PCG-R505 which I am still using. The only downside to Sony’s ultra mobiles is the high cost. This new TZ will start off around $2200 and $3000 for the flash based one. I’m in the market for a new laptop and can’t wait to see this laptop and give it a try.
