This subnotebook is nothing new, but is another hot item that will be release later this year. I’m really looking forward for this laptop to be released just because of the low price and hight portability. According to Asus this tiny machine will contain a 900Mhz Dothan based Intel Pentium M, 4/8/16 GB flash based memory, 10/100 Mbit Ethernet, 802.11b/g Wireless, built in camera and 512 MB of DDR2-400 ram, around 4 USB 2.0 ports, and media card readers. The one thing that is disappointing is that the screen will only be 7 inches and can handle a 800 x 480 resolution. This tiny thing will run a customized version of Linux but the awesome thing about this machine is that it will start off at the price of $200! I know some people that spent 3x times that much on a “cough, cough” highly anticipated cell phone.
If you are just looking for an ultra portable machine to surf the internet and do minor computing this thing seems to be awesome. This seems like a great competitor to the Palm Foleo which will be released later this summer that will start of costing $500 and to be used in conjunction with your Palm Smartphone. Asus plans on releasing a 10 inch screen model later which will definitely make me really consider in purchasing this laptop. Read more about the specs at wikipedia.

That looks pretty slick. I’m interested in getting one and putting Ubuntu on there.
This thing seems to be the best bang for your buck! I’ll write another post about it if I end up buying one.
