Keep in mind that 32-bit operating systems can't address more than around 4gb of RAM. This is the upper limit to computers running a 32-bit OS. Upgrade your laptop to the maximum amount of RAM possible. If your laptop has reached its limit of usefulness, it may be a good idea to store it and wait for it to become collectible. There are many people already collecting <a href="http://vintagelaptops.com" rel="nofollow">vintage laptops</a>. The absolute best thing to do for any old computer is to upgrade the RAM. I have the exact machine. When I upgraded the Harddrive I went to a 80 gig 7200 RPM drive, instead of the 5400 RPM drive that came in it. And it Makes a huge difference in overall speed. I have a Dell Insprion 8200 from about 4 years ago. It came with 512MB of RAM but just this spring I upgraded it to 2GB and it runs much faster.
