Big news coming out of One Infinite Loop (Apple Headquaters) today. The whole iPod line up has been totally restructured. Lets start with the biggest news first, the iPod Touch. All of you Apple fans that love the iPod part of the iPhone but didn’t want to buy the iPhone due to price, carrier, etc here is your solution. This iPod will offer the same interface that the iPhone offers and will be thinner. Other good notes about this Touch is that it will offer 16Gb size and Wifi. The Wifi will allow users to connect to iTunes and download songs strait from the iPod, looks like Microsoft was a little late on this idea. The iPhone should also be getting this option as well.

The next big news is the new generation iPod now called iPod Classic. There will be a few significant changes though is the new interface to look similar to the iPhone and the iPod Touch which uses the “Cover Flow” UI to show music. Another thing is that the iPod will come in sizes of 80Gb and 160Gb (Holy CRAP!). That is awesome in size but how is the battery life well 30 hours/6 hours and 40 hours/7 hours respectively for audio playback/ video playback. Hopefully Microsoft will get its butt in gear and add the extra space and battery life these new iPods have. The last new information about the Classic is that they sport a new metal shell which means that the trendsetting white iPod is now dead. Expect these to be in stores this weekend for $250 and $350 for the 80Gb and 160Gb respectively.

Next up in a list of news from Apple is the 3rd generation iPod Nano, just like we reported a couple weeks ago (link) the iPod Nano changed shape. The nano is now shorter and fatter but by the pictures it is very slim. The size change is to accomodate a nice 2″ QVGA 320 x 240 display that is 65% brighter than previous versions. This will also get the updated UI and metal cover as well. Should be sporting a 4Gb and 8Gb versions that should perfrom as 24 hours/5 hours for audio/video playback. The prices should be $150 fro the 4Gb and $200 for the 8Gb.

Next news is that the iPod shuffle now sports new colors and supports a (product)Red which is for a good cause. Should be the same prices and battery playback.

Last bit of information is that both the 4Gb and 8Gb iPhones have dropped $200 dollars in price, so you can grab the 4 for $299 and 8 for $399. WOW I would be mad if I bought one the other day, but it looks like Apple is prepping to drop the 4Gb and add a 16Gb version.
