VMware

VMware is taking the lead in virtual machine software with the release of ESX Server 3i. Steve Lohr of the New York Times writes, “Hewlett-Packard, Dell, IBM and others will bake VMware’s software onto the the motherboards of their server computers.” By reducing the size of its famed-hypervisor by 60x (2GB to 32MB), it will reside within on-board flash memory.
