Firewalls help prevent unwanted intruders from accessing your PC. A really good and pretty easy to use firewall is ZoneAlarm. ZoneAlarm will block all incoming and outgoing requests until you allow certain programs to make connections. ZoneAlarm can be downloaded free of charge for Windows 2000 & XP here. Once installed you'll need to set it up if you have a home network so that it doesn't block access to your other computers.
