You get your car a tune up, so why give your PC the same love. Show a little respect I mean it does pretty much the same thing, it gets you from Point A to Point B. If your wondering how to give your PC a tune up, then PC Pitstop is your answer.
PC Pitstop was started in March of 2000. Since then millions of PCs have been tested. I first learned about this site from one of my favorite shows The Screen Savers. I’m not 100% sure but I think it was one of Leo Laporte’s segments. Anyways, PC Pitstop is a great place for beginners to everyday users of computers to go check how your PC is performing. Not only will it diagnose your computer for free, it also compares your PC to other computers that have been tested before of the same make and model.
Entering the Pit…
Testing your computer is a pretty simple task with the help of this site. I’ve only used this site with IE, Safari, and Firefox. With Firefox you have to download a IE plugin that can be attained from the site. On the Home Page there is a menu bar to the left, click on Full Tests. The next screen should look a whole lot like this…

…click on New Members in the center of the page. If your using Safari it seems as of now your out of luck and if your on the Firefox browser this is where you’ll have to download the IE plugin. Once you have the plugin installed and click on New Member again, or Your using IE the next screen will look like this.

I’m pretty lazy so I never get around to creating an account, so I click on the Don’t Create An Account button. The next screen should have a link that says Let’s go! This is where the magic happens. Once its done with its wild visuals and other tests, your done. The final screen displays areas your computer might have a serious to minor problem or is running well.
