It really has been a long time since anyone has posted any relevant information to this blog. Well we are hopefully back and will be posting some good articles in the future!!! Well a few months back my Sprint Treo 700wx’s microphone died and basically couldn’t use the phone without a bluetooth. (I have since fixed the microphone and have installed WM6 on my Treo 700wx and will write a blog about it soon!!). It also came at an unfortunate time, in which I was going to be traveling and really needed to have access to my phone without bluetooth headset.  So I rushed to the Sprint store hoping to get a Motorola Q for real cheap because the website listed them for $30 with rebates. Of course, when I arrived at my local sprint store they no longer had just the Q. I’m basically a microsoft fanboy so I was only interested in Windows Mobile phones, the ones I was interested in were another Treo 7oowx which is still only on Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC (WM5, touchscreen), the Samsung Ace which is running Windows Mobile 6 Standard (WM6, Non touchscreen), and the Motorola Q9c running WM6 Standard. They also, had the HTC Mogul and the HTC touch which I wasn’t interested in.

I really wanted to wait and get the Treo 800w that I was reading so much about, and it is out now! But, I had to do something quick because I really needed a working phone. I did not want to buy another 700wx so I quickly compared the Q9c and the Ace. I read more about the Q9c so I decided I had 30 days to take it back if I did not like it so I picked it up and left. At first switching back to Windows Mobile Standard aka Windows Mobile Smartphone or the non touchscreen version was a little hard to get use to. I use to have a Samsung i600 which was Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone. After some toying around with and using the keyboard which the layout  is different than the Treo’s, I was getting use to the phone.

After having this phone for a little over a couple weeks I was reading that Sprint was about to release the WM6.1 rom for it and by the end of that week, poof there it was for me to install. It actually took me a couple times to install, the first time craped out on me but, the second time work fine. Plus with Motorola’s software it was able to save a lot of my settings that I was “suppose” to lose. I quickly set up the new home screen with the sliding panels and I think this phone is really slick. I mean it has Stereo bluetooth, Navigation, Voice activated dialing via bluetooth, fast EVDO, threaded text messaging, mini-sdhc (I have 4gb in there now), built in task manager and an EXTENDED BATTERY! The only thing I was really missing on this phone was the touchscreen and automatic key lock, which I downloaded a small app to run that.

This phone is really slick and you should check out CNET’s review of the phone. Leave some comments on what you think about the phone.
