I have my SX280 hooked up in the network, and working with Windows home server, but having a eminent 7075DTS doing all the video work for me.
I use my SX more as a NAS, but downloading, unpack and repack items,ecode and decode video.All this can be done from my work spot.
It is a great system, against Atom machines.

The only thing i am looking at is the new Windows Vail, this one needs a X64 CPU, and most of the SX280 have Pentium 4s with 32bit, any body a sugestion to replace CPU ?

I’d also like to know which external usb video card solution you ended up using. I’m also using my sx280 as a media center and it could definitely be better in the video department. Any suggestions, or personal experience would be appreciated. Thanks again for a good article.

Interesting. I also have a SX280 but its currently serving as a Tri/Quad boot system with xp vista and 7RC leaving one partition empty. I am Running Windows Home Server on my old AMD K6-2 OC’D to 550MHZ, 80GB HDD and 512MB ram and its working for me. A little slow sometimes but no other problems. Eventually going to up the ram to 768MB (max the computer can handle)

Nice idea! I am in the process of doing almost the opposite. I am going to make my newer computer my main computer and server while using the older AMD 1GHZ (512mb RAM) as a streaming media center using MCE or XMBC. I’m hoping it is fast enough for that. If not, I think it’s going to go in the trash.

I also have an SX280 and love it in terms of the size but the video card support is a bit of a pain. What external video card did you purchase or would you recommend? I want to be able to connect it to my TV using a phone/RCA connection. Any idea how I can achieve this? Aero support would also be nice…
