Well I got a little crazy the other day and decided to buy a brand new HD-DVD drive for my Xbox 360 (I will discuss why I purchased in another entry). Of course I have been looking at USPS tracking number every morning and every night to find out where the drive is. I find out the package only started out 180 miles from my house and USPS was electronically notifified on Feb 28th a Saturday. Then It was updated and said that it was processed March 1st 180 miles away so I figured that with the jump start on Sunday that i would arrive at my place on tuesday. I come home to my surprise to find nothing. So today wednesday, I have been watching the tracking site like a hawk and it was updated at 7:35am and said ….. Arrival at Unit!!!! I thought to myself, I’m going home for lunch to open the package. I thought that it was weird that it said arrival at unit at 7:35am when I didn’t leave my house till 8am and didn’t see it. I then decided to search the internet to figure out what “Arrival at Unit” means. I was sad to find out that “Arrival at Unit” means that it arrived at your local post office and not delivered. I am now adding my own blog rant on this bad status name. They should change it to Arrival at local facility or something that is not as ambiguous as Unit. AAHHHH FRUSTRATING. Let me know what you guys think.
lol same thing happend to me with this game i was ordering the status was arrival at unit when i woke up then i literaly ran to the door and checked the mail thinking, wtf….wheres the damn game! so i waited about 10 or 15 minutes outside then decided to see what arrival at unit means….i felt like a real dumbass when i saw the meaning.
I AGREE!! I had a HUGE problem with trying to get a text book for my class that started two weeks ago. I kept checking the website and when it finally said that it “arrived at the unit,” I thought that meant it was in the office at my apartment. But since the worthless office people at my apartment are NEVER at work, I never had the chance to talk to them until about a week AFTER that status popped up. They said they didn’t have it and when I just got fed up and called the post office directly, they said my package was labeled as undelivered because my address was wrong or something and that they just mailed it back to the company I bought it from. Needless to say, I never got my book from that company and now I’m waiting for a refund and for the book to come in from ANOTHER company. But today the status on that package is “Arrival at Unit.” I hate the post office.
I totally agree with you. I just got up and checked my tracking information to see that it said “Arrival at Unit” which I thought meant that it was here so I checked outside and nothing was there! I was afraid that someone had taken it or they delivered it to the wrong house! This name really is stupid.

i just bought a VGA converted from hongkong and although it was sent on the 12th of june, i still have not recieved it.
arrival at unit it says. and i know if it was delievered it would say “delivered” or “attempt to deliever”.
but it arrived at unit on the 17th, and it has been 5 business days so far and i still have not recieved my package.
i called them up and they said “you have to wait for it to come in cause sometimes it comes in parts . . .”
wtf parts? wtf do you mean parts, its a package in a box. . .
so i waited couple more business days, then i called back and they said it was not there, call the registry department in the morning…
fuck usps.

I agree, I work on boats and I saw that my package status said “Arrival at Unit” and I immediately got of the boat to go to the office where we get all of our mail and started to look for it, But nothing! I thought someone else had took it. so I got on line and started to find out what Arrival at Unit meant I looked at this web site and,,,, there you go, I was worried about nothing! lol they really need to change that and put it in simple words.!
This happened to me and it so happens that there is a chance of rain today. My package is some laptop parts i need and if that gets wet its over, anyway I saw “Arrival at Unit” and freaked out and I live about a mile from my house so I took a cab on lunch break to put my package in to find nothing there! I wasted cash!!! That is what I’m most pissed about, lol. USPS should change that status’s name, or put a legend of what each status means, shame on the web designer who didn’t think to put that in the site too.
hahahah woww.. same thing. i just googled it too see if it meant something else. I was highly disappointed.. How long does it take for it to actually arrive after it says Status: Arrival at Unit?!
Same here today, waiting for the computer part and today it said “arrival at unit”. At first i thought its at the house but then i saw the time next to it – 3:53AM. Unless we got the new PostMan and new post department – there aint a way they are getting off their asses that early to deliver a package. Quick search on google reveled what unit actually meant – agree 100% should change Unit to what it really is “Arrived at your local post office”

I understand everyone’s frustration in regards to the meaning of “Arrival at Unit” but you have to understand that “Arrival at Unit” is clearly not the same as “Delivered” as when your package gets delivered, that’s what it says on USPS’s tracking page.
Same thing happened to me. I almost ruined a bday present thinking they had already received it.
